At the risk of being redundant, I am also posting a few things about our road trip because I've noticed that sometimes, just
sometimes, men and women view the same events differently. We set out with high excitement and a spirit of adventure not-so-early on a Wednesday morning. Traveling inevitably comes with speed bumps. Speed Bump #1: Death. Don't be alarmed. If you want more details about the emergency trip to Wal-Mart due to the death of a dearly loved DVD player, you'll have to
read it here.
Destination #1: Excalibur Hotel, Las Vegas. Why? Two reasons. It's not that far from home for a first day of driving. #2: $45 rooms + a $25 food card = thriftygirl's happy place. In theory. Even our best efforts at selling the boys on staying in "our castle" can't cover the
ick that comes with taking kids to Vegas. Wyatt did continually point out, "Mommy, you're a princess in this castle!" It's flattering. Kinda. We found a few things to do around town before bed time (M&Ms, Coke, Aquarium).
Day 2, Destination: Richfield, Utah. No major speed bumps today. Richfield, UT may only boast about 6 buildings total, but this hotel is NICE! It was a beautiful welcome to the end of a driving day. It is a brand new Holiday Inn Express. Not impressed? Neither was I, until we were met at the door with bottles of water, fresh-baked cookies, and the friendliest customer service I've ever received from a hotel staff. The decor is sleek and modern, the pool was clean and empty of people, the rooms are nothing short of a small piece of luxury. Granite counters, slate tile, dark wood furniture with clean lines, white crisp CLEAN bedding, free WiFi, free buffet breakfast, and a plasma TV to top it all off. Hopefully Day 3, Destination: Steamboat Springs, CO will be just as smooth. We'll let ya know.

I love roadtrips! It's such an accomplishment in itself, but the adventure factor is so high--you never know what it's going to be!
